In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unveiled its fourth list of candidates from Uttar Pradesh. The announcement, made on April 12, includes prominent leaders who will represent the party in key constituencies across the state.

Former state President Bhim Rajbhar has been nominated to contest from Azamgarh, a significant constituency known for its political dynamics. Additionally, former BSP MP Balkrishna Chauhan will vie for victory from the Ghosi seat, reflecting the party’s commitment to field experienced candidates.

The candidates unveiled in the fourth list are as follows:

1. Shyam Kishore Awasthi - Dhauraha seat
2. Mohd Irfan - Etah
3. Sachidanad Pandey - Faizabad
4. Dayashankar Mishra - Basti seat
5. Javed Simnani - Gorakhpur
6. Satyendra Kumar Maurya - Chandauli
7. Dhaneshwar Gautam - Robertsganj

This list follows the earlier announcement on April 3, where the BSP revealed 12 candidates, including notable names like Nand Kishore Pundir from Ghaziabad and Sarwar Malik from Lucknow. These strategic nominations showcase the BSP’s meticulous approach in selecting candidates with strong grassroots support and electoral viability.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are slated to be held in seven phases, commencing on April 19, with results to be declared on June 4. Amidst heightened political fervor, the BJP has expressed confidence in securing all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, setting the stage for a fiercely contested electoral battle.

In a recent development, BSP chief Mayawati reiterated the party’s unique approach by stating that they do not release election manifestos. She emphasized the BSP’s focus on tangible actions over mere promises, citing the party’s track record in Uttar Pradesh where they formed the government four times without a traditional manifesto. The shift in motto from ‘sarvjan hitai, sarvjan sukhai’ to ‘bahujan hitai, bahujan sukhai’ reflects the BSP’s renewed commitment to serve the interests of the Bahujan community and prioritize their welfare.
